the Power of Gospel!

Wilbur and Dena Daniels began holding the Friday Night Gospel concert more than twenty years ago, and they have built it into the best attended event of its kind in the country, growing from audiences of 100 to the 1000 that now attend.  Wilbur himself is a gospel music legend, now past his 70th year of singing gospel, first with his own family group and later with the Gospelaires, then the Chordsmen,  and even a tour with the InkSpots!

Jerry Pearson is among the most experienced gospel singers in the country, having performed with many legendary gospel groups, including the likes of the Weatherfords and the Songfellows. His rich and smooth bass voice has soothed lovers of gospel music for many years on such gospel standards as Have a Little Talk with Jesus and Teach Me, Lord, to Wait.

Dalisay “Dee” Johnson started playing the fiddle at age six and has since won more than 60 fiddle awards, 20 of them 1st-place, and five California State fiddle championships. As a teen, she took part in competition orchestra in Europe, and she has played with the likes of Buck Owens. With the Chordsmen since November 2010, she continues to give private fiddle instruction, plays for many local bands including the Sons of the San Joaquin, and she  has a beautiful, soulful alto voice.

Dale Ellis began playing the piano as a three-year old, and not much later he

was playing and touring with great gospel groups, including the Claiborns,

the Blackwoods, and the Weatherfords, and he was a regular at the National Quartet Convention when it was held in Memphis. He joined the Chordsmen in October of 2014.

A musician extraordinaire, Arland Finney plays guitar, keyboards, strings, bass, drums --and on most of those he was self-taught. He owns and operates RhythmWave Music, a full-service music and recording studio where he teaches lessons, repairs and restores instruments, and engineers and produces for a host of local musicians. He joined the Chordsmen in July 2015.

Michael Ogdon is the newest member of the Chordsmen,

joining in November 0f 2017, and he brings a tenor/baritone voice

along with his formal music experience. Mike received his B.A. from Biola,

and a Master's degree in Music Education from San Jose State, and he is the director of an all-women chorus, the Sweet Adolines!

Kearey Lyn’s first words were sung, rather than spoken!

She has been part of the Friday Night Gospel event for eight years, and she looks to Sandi Patty and Karen Carpenter among her musical influences. She started out as a vocal performance major in college with emphasis on show tunes and opera. She is a Power of  Gospel favorite with her silky-smooth,

Julie Andrews-style soprano voice.

Before becoming a baseball star at Fresno State, Dan Pollard was the tenor  for the legendary Gospelaires in the 1960’s and 70’s, and joined the Chordsmen in September of 2013. His mellow voice has been inspiring listeners for years on classic favorites like I Bowed on My Knees, Midnight Cry, Then I Met the Master, and His Eye is on the Sparrow. The Chordsmen were very blessed to have Dan as a regular member through October of 2017, when he retired from the quartet--but as we like to say,

"once a Chordsman, always a Chordsman!"

Mark Oller has been singing  solos and with choirs and ensembles since high

school. He studied musical theory and vocal performance in college, and he has continued vocal training in the years since. He dabbles on the guitar and the piano. He joined the Chordsmen in April of 2010.
